Hedy L. Nelson has practiced commercial law for over 25 years. Her principal experience has been in the areas of business law, real estate and financing transactions.
Prior to opening her own practice, Ms. Nelson worked as an associate at Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, Myerson & Casey; at Golden, Freda & Schraub; and at Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard McPherson & Hand. She was also Of Counsel at Ginsberg, Feldman & Bress. Ms. Nelson left Ginsberg in 1998 to open Golden & Nelson. Upon her partner's retirement at the end of 2003, Ms. Nelson formed Hedy L. Nelson, P.C.
Throughout her career, Ms. Nelson has handled the creation of and investment in:
• Corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, general partnerships and joint ventures
• Mergers, acquisitions and sales transactions
• All aspects of financing and financial restructuring
Other areas in which Ms. Nelson has substantial experience advising clients include various contract negotiations, license agreements, strategic business relationship arrangements, dispute resolutions, employment matters, and residential and commercial real estate transactions.
In 2008, Ms. Nelson obtained her Maryland real estate broker's license to complement her legal practice in the real estate arena. She operates her brokerage through her firm, Witz Realty, LLC.
A native New Yorker, Ms. Nelson moved to the Greater Washington area to attend law school at George Washington University's National Law Center, where she received her juris doctor in 1984. She actively participates in the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, the Anne Arundel Commercial and Industrial Association, the American Business Women's Association and was instrumental in forming the Crofton Wednesday Lunch chapter of Business Network International (BNI). The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce honored her as the 2010 Minority Small Business Chamption of the Year. She now lives in Severna Park with her daughter, son and black lab.
